BirdFont

With BirdFont installed on your machine, you will be able to create fonts (come up with outline vector graphics) and export them (as TIF, EOT, and SVG). The very nice thing about this application is that accessing the aforementioned functionality is a very straightforward matter and that the application is offered for the great price of free.

BirdFont is available for Apple Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The Windows installation file is about 42MB in size. Download this file, run it, follow the instructions presented onscreen by a setup wizard, and mere moments later you will have the font editor up and running on your PC.

The font you are working on is presented in the panel from the left side of the application’s interface (a tabbed interface, it must be mentioned). Buttons for accessing BirdFont’s various editing functions are presented in a panel to the right. In the upper left hand corner, right were you would expect it to be, there’s a traditional File menu.

The functionality BirdFont has to offer can be summed up like this: with this application you can create and edit outline vector graphics, preview your work, and then export it as SVG, TTF and EOT. Via the aforementioned interface you will have no problems accessing this functionality. And since BirdFont is an open source project, you won’t have to part with any of your money to access this functionality. Cons:
